Compassion Comforts Fear

Dear Virginia, Diane and Eveline,

On March 14 I was in a car crash in St. Augustine. When I arrived at Flagler Hospital I was in pain, frightened and alone. You Diane in Emergency, Virginia in my room and Eveline my nurse were so kind and caring, all helping to comfort me and calm my fears.

Now I am home and getting better much quicker than I expected and I know that is due to your wonderful care. It takes very special people to do such important work and I thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Edith

Eternally Grateful

Dear Drs. Shaqareq and Platko and the entire 5th floor staff,

We will be eternally grateful for the excellent care given to Bob during his stay at Flagler Hospital. From the emergency room personnel to the transport team, technicians and personal care attendants, the level of professionalism is far above any previously experienced. Our special thanks to RN's Fannie, Michael and Tracy, Respiratory Therapists Catherine and Theresa, and finally, Pauline.

Finally, we'd like to thanks Susan from Social Services for expending a lot of time and energy in procuring the oxygen requested for the journey home to North Carolina. You made it happen! Many thanks again!

Emergency Room Job Well Done

While visiting my daughter in Florida I had an accident with an ocean wave. I had head trauma, facial lacerations, and pain in my shoulder. I was referred to your hospital by a local urgent care center and on the afternoon of Sunday, September 16, I had what turned out to be a very good experience in visiting your hospital. From the minute I walked in I was greeted by an RN who sized up the situation and put me at ease. Once actually in the Emergency Room, the doctors on staff, the nurses, the X-Ray technicians, the clerical staff, and everyone I came in contact with did a great job of sizing up the situation, diagnosing the multiple injuries, and giving me information on the injuries. I am slowly healing and will be back to normal soon. I just wanted to thank your whole staff and let the administration know what a great job they do in the emergency room and how they helped someone who was far away from home.

Your West Virginia Friend,
Richard

2nd Floor CVU
To the staff of the 2nd Floor CBU,

I cannot begin to express my thanks for the superb care and attention I received during my brief stay after cardiac surgery. The professionalism was outstanding (special thanks to nurses Linda & Amanda) from everyone.

I also would like to say a special thanks to Dwight of the "Patient Catering Services", he was superb. His exceptionally demeanor and attentiveness made my stay considerably easier. Thanks Dwight.

Overall I'd rate this not as a top 5% hospital but "Top 1%". Who could ask for more.

Thank You,
Ernie

Special Procedures
Hello,
I just wanted to send an email to praise the staff in the Radiology Department who performed a CT Scan I had this morning. The techs who helped me, Cindy and Amy, were SO incredibly kind and empathetic, and I was so impressed and RELIEVED to have been served by people who actually care. I explained to both women how scared I was because the last time I had a CT Scan it was pretty traumatic and left me an anxious mess, and they couldn't have been any more caring! I have been dealing with a serious health issue for 7 years and have encountered more unprofessional and uncaring folks...and some just plain mean... in the medical profession than I care to think about, but today was such a different story. Cindy and the other tech were above and beyond caring and professional and treated me like a human being

The medical community needs more people like these two ladies ( and Brian Emerson who put my IV in and got it on the first try....which never happens, either. He was awesome, too!). Flagler Hospital has three gems who work in the CT Scan department, and I just thought they deserved to be recognized for their top notch compassion and care. It is very rare.

Much appreciation,

Pamela

Another reason to love ST Augustine - Great ER Experience

My name is Cynthia Johnson and my grandson is James Allen Cox. On Friday July 13, 2012 while we were packing to come back to Alabama after our week long vacation at Vilano Beach Allen (James) some how amputated his left tip of his fifth finger almost to the bone on the door of the house we were renting and off we went flying around trying to get him to the hospital when we finally got there around a little after 5pm the girl at the desk calmly said for us to calm down because we were more upset than Allen was and that the more upset we were Allen would be, She was great she got our information and they got us back. Once we were back everyone that came into our room was Great they went over and beyond they took their time the Dr I don't remember his last name but I know his first name is James talked to him and took pictures of his hand to send to Dr Stark while he was in surgery, the radiologist brought in the portable xray and she took her time to explain what she needed him to do and got the pictures so Dr Stark could see them and make discission on what he needed to do all while he was in surgery on someone else. He decided that he had to do surgery because Allen is just 4 and that it happened close to the bone he had the ER Dr explain it to us what was going to happen. The nurse that put in his IV line was the best I had ever seen she and her helper Nick was very good she let him watch so he would not be so scared that she had to stick him and she only had to do it one time. Then off to holding for surgery where we met all the Doctors ,Nurses, Anesthesiologist that played with him and his Toy Story doll Woody they even let Woody go in with him to surgery and while they were in surgery they doctored Woody too, so when he come out of surgery Woody had the same booboo he had and his dressing will come off when Allens does. Recovery Nurse was great with him, she talked to him and Woody the hole time he was in there until we were sent back to the ER were we finished recovering by then my husband had went home to get our phones and checked on the other kids at home and brought back Allen twin brother Ayden and the ER nurse and patient advocate treated the both of them the same and took very good care of them. On a scale of 1 to 10 we rank The Hospital and the whole entire Team from beginning to end a 20 you are the BEST even if it was midnight when we finally got to leave. I know that most contact you get is probably negative We really wanted to send you a big THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts and sort of glad that since this had to happen it happened in the best place it could happened. Everyone was AWESOME, sweet, kind and we wanted to let everyone know about it I am just sorry that I could not remember names and if I forgot anyone I am sorry that I did not metion you but if you took care of this little boy you know who you are and I appreciate every thing you did.
